Post- Operative Exam

You can expect to return to most normal activities within 24 hours after an abortion procedure. ACWC offers an opportunity to follow-up at the clinic, free of charge.

Surgical Abortion

ACWC offers the option to return to our clinic 1-4 weeks after your surgical procedure. The follow-up exam includes a quick ultrasound to confirm that the uterus is empty and healing properly. A provider will review the image and meet with you as needed.

Medical Abortion

You will complete a follow-up visit via video, zoom, or in-person visit to ensure the successful passage of the pregnancy. While medical abortions are 92-98% effective, there are rare cases where the patient remains pregnant after a medical abortion procedure. If this is the case, our staff at ACWC will be able to prescribe additional medication or recommend a procedure to fully clear the uterus. If you have traveled a long distance or received the medical abortion pill by mail, we will discuss alternative follow-up options.

ACWC will always work with you to provide convenient, follow-up care. Your future health is also important to us. Please let us know if we can assist you with annual exams, contraception, or other health services.
